Refractive surgery

Refractive surgery

In refractive surgery we have as a novelty, the elimination of reading glasses (presbyopia) based on the PRELEX PREMIUM, technique that are individual intraocular lenses of the last generation that simultaneously eliminates the myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism and allows you to see at any distance. We are pioneers in the operation of both eyes in the same operation.

For the treatment of Macular Degeneration (AMD) there has been incorporated anti-angiogenesis drugs of newest generation, which prevent the progression of certain forms of this disease, as the Aflibercept (Eylea). This drug is injected in the operating room without hospitalization.

As treatment and prevention of macular hole the intraocular injection with OCRIPLASMIN (Jetrea) was incorporated.

Within oculoplastic surgery and aesthetic periocular medicine , we acquired Radiofrequency (Thermage) associated with eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) in order to achieve a more complete aesthetic result.

ICL lenses

Depend on glasses or contact lenses? We can provide a solution: ICL lenses.

Sometimes it is not easy to live with the problems that affects the vision,. Eyeglass wearers and users of contact lenses are everyday real challengers in various activities such as sports, working on the computer, go to the beach, hanging out of artificial tears or not to be able to improvise plans as sleepovers when they had not planned this before (contact lens wearers).

Here we present a solution to overcome these obstacles and to be yourself again: ICL LENSES

But what are they and how do they work ?

The ICL lens (or implantable collamer lens) is made of an advanced material called Collamer. Its composition is based on collagen, a substance that is produced in the body, so it is fully compatible in the eye, and provides a view in high definition (HD) and without discomfort.

This lens is implanted in the posterior chamber of the eye, that is to say between the iris and the natural lens of the eye. Once implanted, they can indefinitely remain in the eye, and if you change your visual requirements, they can be removed or exchanged; it is reversible.

To whom are these lenses addressed ?

If you have nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism, you may be an excellent candidate for the ICL lenses. It is very important that your ophthalmologist performs a complete investigation, and ensures that you are an ideal candidate and lists you your benefits individually. Although patients with visual refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can be operated with the LASIK technique using the excimer laser, there are more and more patients who are candidates for the ICL lens and not with the laser, because it is invasive in that it eliminates healthy corneal tissue (stroma).

What are then the advantages of ICL Lenses?

1.- They offer sight in high-resolution (high-definition) where the vision is more clear and more defined.

2.- It is reversible. It can be replaced or removed in the future, allowing other future interventions.

3.- The recovery is quick and painless, you can go back home 1 hour after surgery, and very often can continue a normal life in 24 or 48th

4.- Generates no dry eye syndrome, because it neither the corneal surface is affected nor causes eye dryness.

5.- The method is fast, about 15 minutes, your vision is immediately better than with your glasses or your contact lenses.

6.- It is invisible and undetectable when the lens is in the eye, once the lens is in the eye you don´t feel it and nobody does see them.

7.- It does not modify anything on corneal tissue, which is indicated in many cases instead of Excimer laser, Lasik or PRK, Smile.

8.- Patient satisfaction is higher than 99% with a high safety profile in comparison to other refractive procedures.

Therefore, it meets all the requirements, especially in elite athletes and security forces. From ICL lenses nearsighted can benefit (from - 0.5 to -18 diopters, with / without astigmatism) and hyperopia (from +0.50 to + 10 diopters).

The results are predictable and very stable over time. There are candidates for the ICL patients without eye disease from 21 to 45 years of age.
